African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC)

Our 2019 AAYLC is in the books as a resounding success with more than 1,000 students, parents, presenters and volunteers. We received direct feedback indicating that attendees and guests found the conference to be a “great success” that was “well organized” with “quite a variety of diverse class offerings” that offered “something for everyone”. Celebrating the Legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The AAYLC was proud to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr on Monday, January 21st.  Our premier sponsor, Colorado College, began the day with the All People's Breakfast.  The AAYLC had a table located at Colorado College - Worner Center.  We enjoyed meeting everyone!

Educating Children of Color (ECOC)

The African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) was excited to participate as a vendor for the ECOC annual conference.   We met with many students who will be attending our conference.  We look forward to a great turnout on Saturday, March 9th.

Bob Telmosse Christmas Giveaway

Tis the season of giving!  Tremendous joy was felt by all at the Bob Telmosse Christmas Giveaway. Our Board and Planning Committee members, and our families volunteered for this incredible event. The delight we saw on the family's faces as they received books, stuffed animals, bikes, clothes, toys, and groceries was truly amazing.  groceries was truly amazing.

Colorado Gives Day

Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy through online giving. The AAYLC was honored to be one of the non-profit organizations participating this year.  All funds will help with our annual conference, scholarships and programs. Thank you to all the people who donated through this program.   We are humbled by the tremendous out pour of support on this great day!   Thank you!

Pre-Kwanzaa African Marketplace

The holidays are right around the corner.   This incredible Pre-Kwanzaa African Marketplace event gave vendors an opportunity to share their merchandise in the community before the holidays.  The African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) enjoyed having a table at this event.   Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see us!

Student Leadership Advisory Committee

We had some impressive students that wanted to step up and speak up at our AAYLC Student Leadership Advisory Committee. Our goal is to have students provide valuable input for the 2019 conference. We are excited to work with these bold, creative and energetic students.

Mile High Flight Program Kick Off Meeting

We had an amazing turnout at the Mile High Flight Program kick-off meeting. This organization is part of the Tuskegee Airman, Inc. - Hubert L. "Hooks" Jones Chapter for Denver & Colorado Springs. They focus on students, in grades 7 - 12, who want to fly airplanes, be an air traffic controller, work as an aerospace engineer, or just love aviation. The AAYLC enjoyed speaking about the conference, networking, and touring the United Airlines Training Center in Denver. The picture on the right shows the Wilkerson family, their son attends the AAYLC, with Fed Ex Captain John Frazier.

AAYLC Fundraiser - Shopping Extravangza

 

 

The African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) enjoyed spending an amazing day with you!  We shopped, ate, laughed, won prizes, got chair massages, took photos, listened to music, danced, made new friends and shopped some more.  Thank you for making this event a huge success!  We appreciate your continued support and hope to see you again next year!

The AAYLC and the Colorado Association of Black School Educators (CABSE) jointly hosted a Welcome Reception for Dr. Michael J. Thomas, newly selected School District 11 Superintendent. Dr. Thomas was humbled by all the support he had in Colorado Springs. Thank you to everyone who attended this incredible event. We look forward to a strong partnership with Dr. Thomas.

Black Panther Screening & Panel Discussion

The AAYLC had a great time on the panel at the Pueblo City-County Library event.  Wakanda forever lives in our hearts.  Thank you for your participation and support.

This event enable various groups in the community to showcase themselves to the T-Rowe Price Community.  Thank you for a wonderful event T. Rowe Price.   We enjoyed meeting all the amazing employees interested in serving their community.

The African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) was honored to judge the oratorical contest for the Jack & Jill of America, Inc. - Central Region West Division.  These students spoke on the topic of "If I Could Go Back In Time, I Would Ask My Ancestors..."   We couldn't be more proud of the students who participated.

Get on Board

Leadership Pikes Peak and Center for Nonprofit Excellence hosted its annual "Get on Board" event.   The African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) had an opportunity to meet people who may want to participate with the organization.   We appreciate everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about us and our Board of Directors.
