Student of the Month - June 2019 (Donovan Ferrell)
Donovan Ferrell will be a freshman at Sierra High School in the fall. He dreams of a career that is artistic in nature and to be the best person possible. After high school Donovan strives to attend a Clemson University in South Carolina and pursue a degree in electronic arts or video game design.
At Panorama Middle School, in the 8th grade, Donovan’s favorite subject was art because he was able to show his creativity. This trait is important to him since it enables him to express himself freely. Donovan also completed several advance placement classes and was involved with the art club.
Donovan’s mentor is his mother because he believes mothers are our first teachers. She has taught him more than any school and he welcomes her guidance to make him a successful and positive role model at school and in his community. Donovan also enjoys donating to the goodwill and working with charitable organizations to help boost people in southeast Colorado Springs.
Donovan has attended the African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) for two years. The AAYLC has opened his eyes to different opportunities and ways of seeing the world. The conference has enabled Donovan to experience things he would not have been open to before. The AAYLC also allows him to learn from individuals to whom he normally would not have access.
