“She has been taking the lead since she was 4 years old,” said the mom of this incredible Odyssey Early College and Career Options senior. Jade has lived her life as a leader and servant to her community. This dedication may be in her blood given that her family has served in the military since WWII! Jade is a member of Air Force JROTC and has wanted to be a pilot since she was in seventh grade. She promised herself the first time she looked up and saw F-16s flying over her head "I don't care how difficult it is, I'm going to do that!" Jade has completed 60 hours toward her pilot license and hopes to be accepted this year into the Naval Academy.
Along with her professional goals, Jade has demonstrated a strong desire to assist others throughout her high school career. In her sophomore year, she joined the Link Crew, a school club that pairs upperclassmen with freshmen or new students. This ensures that they have a warm welcome and a mentor to lean on as they navigate new waters. After her freshmen year, she became a mentor herself. Jade then started as a leader during COVID where she had to rely on digital meetings for the first time. She also learned that "there are many ways to communicate with people." Jade is now the senior commissioner in charge of training the Link Crew's other leaders. She has also become the support group commander in AF JROTC and has maintained a 3.8 GPA while a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). Jade is overwhelmed by the love and support she receives from her parents, grandparents, Dr. Lamphere, and the Odyssey team. We're so proud of Jade and everything she's done to help her community, and we can't wait to celebrate with her at her final AAYLC as a student!
