Student of the Month - September 2019 (Jawai Williams)

Jawai Williams is a senior at Widefield High School with a 3.0 GPA.   Her favorite subject is science due to all the theory and creativity in that field.  Jawai is a phenomenal vocalist who has received a multitude of awards for her accomplishments.  She is currently exploring several HBCUs and would like to obtain a degree in Nursing and minor in music.  Her ultimate dream is to become a singer.

Jawai’s mentor is her mother, Natasha Williams,  who has taught her perseverance and to never give up  on her dreams.   Jawai has been extremely busy making her dreams a reality.  Some of Jawai’s recent achievements include: runway show with America’s Next Top Model contestant Victoria Henley - April 2019; released video singing “For His Glory” by Tasha Cobb - March 2019, which has over 5,900 views on the My Black Colorado homepage;  spotlight performance in Sergeant H’s video singing “Your Glory” - March 2019; Fox News interview - February 2019; and Yes M.A.A.M Pageant Queen winner - December 2018.  She is also scheduled to walk in the following fashion shows:  Atlanta Fashion Week September 2019, LA Fashion Week 2019, New York Fashion Week 2020 and Miami Fashion Week 2020.

Jawai has volunteered in the adult church choir and praise team for the last five years.  She also performed at the AAYLC during the opening ceremony in March 2019.  While attending the conference, she enjoyed learning more about African American History.
