Student of the Month - November 2020 (Jaylean Franck)

Jaylean Franck recently graduated from Harrison High School with a 3.8 GPA and is currently a freshman at UCCS majoring in computer engineering.   He received four scholarships to assist with his college ambitions. Education is extremely important to Jaylean, and he has put sports on hold during his freshman year.  He believes the foundation his parents and ancestors have laid is worth the fight to be great.  Jaylean’s life and future aspirations are heavily guided by his religious beliefs.

Jaylean has worked extremely hard to create his best life.  Some of his accomplishments include: National Honor Society, academic letters, four-year Advanced Placement (AP) and honors, three-year concurrent enrollment at Pikes Peak Community College, HSD2 Internship, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA),  and Pikes Peak Police Teen Academy.  He has also received acknowledgments and letters of recommendations from: Barack Obama, Johnson and Johnson, HSD2 Board of Education, and Hillside Connections.

Since COVID began, Jaylean has been working at a local hotel while pursuing his career goals.  During his time off, he makes an impact in his community by volunteering.  Some of the activities that he has been involved in are mentoring at Hillside Connection, singing in the church choir, assisting as a nursing home volunteer, being a youth role model at his church, participating in the Volunteers of America, and feeding the homeless.

Jaylean has participated in the AAYLC since the eighth grade.  The motivating and inspiring workshops have contributed to his long-term goals.
