Je’Nia has been nothing short of a treasured jewel at her school Odyssey Early College and Career Options in Colorado Springs. Holding an astonishing 4.1 GPA, Je’Nia is often called upon by the Dean of students to host incoming new students/parents, board members, and others. As the current President of both the National Honor Society and Spanish Club, Vice President of Future Farmers of America (FFA), and a member of the Business, Ethics, Speech, and Debate teams, Je’Nia takes pride in being a role model and leader.  She has made an impact in her school district by being a part of multiple round tables that include how to improve District 11 high schools, social and emotional learning, and mentorship programs.  After graduating in May 2021, she hopes to attend a university in Hawaii majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Chinese. This future Marine Biologist recently won a scholarship from Underwater Connections which will pave the way for her obtaining  certification in open water diving.

Je’Nia’s passion does not stop with her scholastic efforts.  She is also a pillar in her community. As a volunteer at the Nursery in Calvary Worship Center, she enjoys spreading her positive messages with the youth in her community. She is jumping headfirst into college life as a current lab assistant at Pikes Peak Community College.  Je’Nia also had an opportunity to lend a hand at the Black Educators Association’s Community Book Fair.

With the legacy that Je’Nia is building, it is certain she will soon follow the footsteps of her mentor, Dean of Odyssey EECO, Dr. Mike Lamphere. Under his leadership Je’Nia has remained focused in her education and driven to reach new heights by the challenges he has set for her. She has studied and admired his ability to connect with students in innovative ways.

As a three-year AAYLC attendee, Je’Nia has enjoyed being able to interact with students and presenters in the community.  Her ability to meet and influence others while broadening her knowledge has kept her coming back year after year.
