Student of the Month - March 2020 (Joshua Jennings)

Joshua Jennings is a 6th grader with a 4.0 GPA who attends Discovery Canyon Campus Middle School in Colorado Springs. Joshua enjoys art because it helps him to express his thoughts through drawing, and math because it challenges his analytical skills. He is currently taking Advanced Compacted Linear Algebra. He has been accepted into the Talented and Gifted program in both math and language arts.  Joshua was also selected to participate in the March 2020 Southwest American Choral Director’s Association Regional Conference in the 5-7 Treble Honor Choir. He also performed in the DCC Elementary School Musical in the Spring of 2019.

Joshua is multi-talented and very athletic. He currently participates in his school’s Seaperch, student council, band program, baseball (Tri-Lakes Little League), cross country, golf and tennis intramurals, as well as piano and student discipleship at New Life Church.

Joshua enjoys contributing to his community by participating in New Life Church Student Ministry, NLKids Art workshop ministry, and various seasonal performances.  He also works with several food donation charities throughout the year. After high school, Joshua plans to attend college to pursue his dream of studying art, animation and game design. He would also like to create an art or game company.

Joshua’s mentor is his sister, Madison Jennings, because she inspires him to continue to draw and do what he loves.  Joshua looks forward to attending the AAYLC.  He wants to learn how to develop his leadership skills, and explore the various careers available.
