The Sachs Foundation

The Sachs Foundation has helped many people realize their dreams of a college education. We do this because we are continuing the legacy of our generous founder, Henry Sachs. He believed in the education of African Americans as a means of bettering their lives, and he actively worked for this cause throughout his life.  Henry Sachs fought to bring the dreams of African Americans in Colorado to realization in a time when not many others were doing so. He truly was a pioneer ahead of his time, and we are proud to offer scholarships in his name.

Pikes Peak School & Public Employment Retirement Association (PPSPERA) Scholarship

Each spring PPSPERA presents two scholarships, named after local educators Wayne Bricker and Bill Brandenburg, to two graduating high school seniors in El Paso or Teller County who plan a career in education or public service.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Scholarship

The Colorado Springs Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents the Ruby D. Hall Memorial Scholarship Program was created to provide financial assistance to young, college-bound minority students who reside in El Paso County.

American Association of University Women’s (AAUW) Scholarship

The Colorado Springs Branch of the American Association of University Women’s (AAUW) mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. Five scholarships in the amount of $1,200 will be awarded for the 2020-2021 academic year. In addition, one or more memorial scholarships designated for elementary education majors will be awarded.

The Jackson-Hightower Scholarship

Deadline to Apply:  April 15, 2021

The Jackson-Hightower Scholarship, established in honor of William and Theresa Hightower, offers a $1,000.00 scholarship to one 2021 African-American High School Senior living within Colorado's El Paso County. Applications will be accepted February 1 - March 15, 2021.  The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of an applicant’s application package, academic record, essay, demonstrated extra-curricular activities, and community involvement.   Students who meet eligibility requirements must submit a completed application package by no later than 6:00 p.m (MST), March 15, 2021.  To request an application, send an email to request on or after January 1, 2021 to:  JacksonHightowerScholarship@gmail.com

Wynn/Marchman Scholarship & Grants

The commitment of the African American Youth Leadership Conference is to support, promote and foster leadership, education and positive self-esteem among youth.  Therefore, in 1996, by the recommendation of Dr. Anne Bouie, the AAYLC Committee established the Debra Wynn/Cleasther Marchman Scholarship Program.

Omega Psi Phi, Inc. Scholarship

The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated’s Samuel C. Hunter, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Program is funded by the Xi Pi (pronounced zye pie) Chapter’s Uplift Foundation to assist young people with securing a portion of the funds needed to enter an institution of higher learning.

UNCF STEM Scholars Program

The UNCF STEM Scholars Program is an initiative designed to identify and provide scholarship and academic support for African American high school students who aspire to earn STEM degrees and to pursue careers in STEM fields.  The program awards 100 scholarships on an annual basis. The program enables highly capable young people to pursue undergraduate STEM majors and prepares them for successful careers in a variety of STEM professions. The application is open for high school seniors who are entering college as first-time freshmen in fall 2020.

The Gazette Best & Brightest

They’re smart, self-motivated and involved in the community. They’re the standout graduating high school seniors in the Pikes Peak region. Now in its 29th year, The Gazette’s Best and Brightest program recognizes 20 graduating seniors who have made contributions to their schools and their community.  Applicants will provide some basic information, one letter of recommendation and answer three questions about their vision, community service and defining moments.

Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. Scholarship

Boettcher Foundation Scholarship

Our merit-based scholarships for Colorado high school seniors provide what is essentially a full-ride to any four-year institution in Colorado.  But the Boettcher Scholarship is about much more than financial support. Daniels Scholarship Program

The Daniels Scholarship Program offers a comprehensive, four-year college scholarship that provides financial and personal support focused on helping Daniels Scholars succeed in college, and in life. Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and Scholarships

Through the Scholastic Awards, teens in grades 7–12 (ages 13 and up) from public, private, or home schools can apply in 29 categories of art and writing for their chance to earn scholarships and have their works exhibited and published.
