Student of the Month - August 2019 (Tiran Charles)

Tiran Charles is a middle schooler at Carmel Middle School in Colorado Springs with a 3.6 GPA. Tiran really enjoys science and is specifically fascinated by atoms.   Tiran is taking Pre AP classes in science, social studies, math and language arts. Impressively, he has received The Presidential Education Award for academic proficiency in math.
 

Tiran’s interests also include coding in Python, which is easy to learn as a first programming language.  Tiran has been a member of the E.A. Tutt Boys and Girls Club for 5 years.  He is also a member of Technology Club which is sponsored by Entrepreneur Nation and supported by the Colorado Association of Black School Educators (CABSE).  Currently he is learning coding and dissecting different components of computers and laptops. He is super excited to learn about drones in the coming months. Tiran  enjoys attending the AAYLC and has learned the importance of volunteering from his mom.
 

His future aspirations include becoming a chemist, entrepreneur, and programmer. Tiran would like to  create a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) program for young people. Tiran’s mentor is Mr. Jay Hardy who has had an impact on him by teaching life skills in manageable pieces.  Mr. Hardy encourages Tiran to  be open, honest, straightforward, and an effective communicator.
