Alex Beasley is a senior at Lewis Palmer High School, where he has maintained an impressive 3.8 GPA. He has a deep passion for psychology and dreams of becoming a therapist. Alex's ultimate goal is to start a non-profit that provides mental health support, particularly in underprivileged communities. His desire to pursue this path stems from his family’s involvement in volunteer work and his own personal experiences with community organizations that focus on mental health advocacy.

After high school, Alex will be attending CSU Fort Collins to major in psychology, a decision that was influenced by his mother’s encouragement and a pivotal experience at a Black Issues Forum at CSU. Alex shared that after the forum “I had a realization of the importance of having minority therapists.” He wishes to participate in closing the gap in representation for the mental health field. Alex’s favorite school subject is psychology, as it allows him to better understand people and offers new perspectives on the human mind. He finds the subject both fascinating and insightful, fueling his desire to help others. He has chosen Psychology as his primary Major when he enters college.

Outside of academics, Alex is an active participant in extracurricular activities. He is the captain of the football team, he received Defensive 1st Team All Conference, and serves as president of Real Alternatives to Drugs and Drinking. He has also been selected for the National Peer Advisory Council for mental health and is a member of the National Honor Society. Alex is dedicated to making a difference in his community, volunteering at Bella Terra Farms, a miniature animal farm that supports individuals with special needs and provides emotional and physical support.

Alex’s mentors have played a significant role in shaping his journey. He credits his parents, the owner of Bella Terra Farms, and his teacher advisor for Sources of Strength as individuals who have guided, supported, and inspired him. He is also involved in several mental health and advocacy clubs, such as Sources of Strength, where he continues to grow personally and professionally. His passion for both psychology and music continues to drive his efforts, with music serving as a hobby and a tool he hopes to integrate into his future career in mental health.

As one of five children, Alex enjoys a strong bond with his family. He has an older sister, a younger sister, and two younger brothers, all of whom he is incredibly grateful for. Their support and connection have been integral to his success and his ability to stay focused on his goals. As he prepares for his future at CSU Fort Collins and beyond, Alex is excited to continue learning and growing while making a lasting impact in communities.
