Moziah is a dedicated and ambitious freshman at Rampart High School, where he has maintained a GPA of 3.5. With a passion for both sports and leadership, Moziah has set his sights on a future in either sports management or law, depending on which path proves to be more accessible. He is currently exploring his options for higher education and is considering two prestigious schools: Howard University, one of the top HBCUs, and the University of Michigan, which offers both a strong orchestra program and a competitive volleyball team.

Moziah’s favorite school subject is English, a subject he has grown stronger in over the past few years. He particularly enjoys reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, a historical fiction novel set during Nazi Germany. He credits his improvement in English to the time and effort he’s put into the subject, making it easier and more enjoyable now.

Outside the classroom, Moziah has already accomplished much in his young academic career. He was nominated for the Sources of Strength program for the fourth year and the Principles Committee. He also holds the prestigious title of First Chair Cello with the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony. Additionally, Moziah excels in extracurriculars, including being a dedicated Boys Basketball manager, where he not only manages the team but also teaches new managers, balancing this responsibility with his academic workload.

Moziah is actively involved in several organizations at school, including the Principles Committee, Sources of Strength, AVID, and, of course, as the basketball team’s manager. He is also passionate about community service, having contributed over 200 hours since eighth grade. Moziah shared that he began volunteering when he joined the National Junior Honor Society in middle school. His volunteer work includes helping at the zoo, assisting with special needs dance classes, and being an active participant in the Rampart Christmas Craft Fair, an event he’s been involved with since grade school. Moziah exhibits great strength and humble pride in learning how to balance his many responsibilities.

Moziah’s mentor is his mother, who has always been there for him and his brother through thick and thin. She instilled in him core values such as respect, kindness, perseverance, and standing up for what you believe in, even when it’s difficult. These teachings continue to guide him as he navigates his academic and personal life.

This year, Moziah is attending the African American Youth Leadership Conference for the first time. His mother introduced him to the program, and he decided to follow through with the opportunity, eager to expand his leadership skills and connect with like-minded peers.
