The African American Youth Leadership Conference (the AAYLC) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all participants, especially the students we serve. The safety and well-being of our youth is our highest priority.

 

By registering as an AAYLC volunteer, you certify and agree that:
 

• You are 18 years of age or older and are eligible to volunteer with the AAYLC.

• You have not been convicted of a crime involving violence, abuse, sexual misconduct, exploitation, or harm to a minor, and you are not subject to any court order or legal restriction that prohibits or limits your ability to work or volunteer with minors.

• All information you provide during the volunteer registration process is true, complete, and accurate.

• You will comply with all AAYLC policies, volunteer instructions, safety procedures, confidentiality expectations, and standards of conduct.

• You will treat all students, participants, volunteers, presenters, staff, and community members with professionalism, dignity, courtesy, and respect.

• You will help foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, or retaliation.

• You will maintain appropriate professional boundaries with youth participants at all times and immediately report any behavior or situation that may place a participant's safety or well-being at risk.

• You will report for volunteer service fit for duty and will not volunteer while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any substance that could impair your judgment, performance, or ability to safely fulfill your volunteer responsibilities.

• You agree to use appropriate language and conduct at all times. Profanity, offensive remarks, inappropriate jokes, threatening behavior, or any conduct that could create an unsafe, disrespectful, or unprofessional environment will not be tolerated.

The AAYLC reserves the right, at its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law, to deny, restrict, reassign, suspend, or terminate volunteer participation at any time if it determines such action is necessary to protect participants, maintain a safe environment, or uphold organizational policies, standards, or the mission of the AAYLC.

Where applicable, volunteer participation may be subject to additional screening, reference verification, or criminal background check requirements.
